Who can adopt from El Salvador?
 | Married couples, 25-45 years of age (the older parent
cannot be more than 45 years older than the child) |

Children available for adoption
 | Infants up to 4 months of age at time of referral (up
to 1 yr. at placement) |
 | Placing biological siblings |
 | Infants in private foster care while waiting for
placement; older children may be in orphanages

Process
 | Apply to The Barker Foundation |
 | Complete pre-adoption group, homestudy |
 | Complete dossier (Barker takes care of all steps of
authentication) |
 | Dossier sent to El Salvador |
 | Referral comes, usually within 12 months of submission
of dossier |
 | Salvadoran court process (takes approximately 8
months) |
 | Adoption decree issued; new birth certificate and
Salvadoran passport issued |
 | Family travels to San Salvador for short stay to pick
up baby, returns to US |
 | Following 6 month post-placement period, family
readopts in the US |
 | Baby receives US Citizenship following completion of
readoption process |
