Colombia Homeland Tours
The Barker Foundation’s Colombia Homeland Tour is a unique and wonderful experience for families who adopted their child through our Colombia Program.
The trip is geared toward teenagers and young adult ages 13 to 21 years old, and is designed to introduce the child’s family to the child’s birth country, offering opportunities to experience Colombia’s rich culture.
All participants will visit FANA and meet with a social worker there to learn about their personal history. They also will visit the Hogar a and meet with birth mothers who reside there and are considering placing their children for adoption.
It is a journey that is filled with amazing sights, wonderful experiences and unforgettable moments. Here is what some previous participants have said about the Homeland Tour:
"Never have I so clearly understood my identity, my heritage and my appreciation for the adoption process and its integral part in my life. Visiting FANA and the Hogar gave me a raw and honest perspective on adoption from others, and allowed me to be even more grateful to FANA and the choice my birth mother made by placing me for adoption." - adopted person
"I cannot imagine a more enriching experience for my Colombian-born son than to bring him back to his land and life." - adoptive mother
