Individual Counseling and Groups

While adoption issues are considered by Barker to be a normal part of development for all members of the adoption circle, such issues often either go unrecognized or are over-emphasized by society-at-large.

Even otherwise-qualified therapists often do not understand how the normal tasks faced by everyone involved in adoption weave their way through life stages.

With 65 years of experience, Barker is well qualified to assist all members of the adoption circle in dealing with the many unique aspects of life in the context of adoption.

As more clients return to the agency for information from our files, or sometimes to search for birth relatives, Barker's objective is to facilitate informed decision-making that balances the interests and well-being of all concerned.

Barker offers individual counseling, consultation and support groups. Please contact our office at 301/664-9664 for additional information on any of these services or to speak with a staff person about a particular question or concern.
