Barker's 7th Annual Teen Weekend 2011

Barker's 7th Annual Teen Weekend:
October 15 & 16, 2011

Barker's 7th Annual Teen Weekend is upcoming on October 15-16th at the 4-H Center in Chevy Chase.  This annual event is a great opportunity for teens to have fun, surround themselves with other adopted teens and to share thoughts on being adopted.  As in previous years, facilitators are experienced professionals who are adopted themselves and provide a unique opportunity for teens to explore shared experiences as adopted persons.  The weekend is for teens adopted domestically and internationally; the staff reflects this diversity too.

Our staff includes: Seth Solondz, Megan Hoover, Kristen England, and Abbe Levine.

Indoor and outdoor activities begin on Saturday, October 15th at 9 am.  Participants spend the night and continue to enjoy through the day on Sunday.  The weekend winds down Sunday at 3:00, with a time for parents to hear from staff about the weekend, the activities and topics of discussion.

A previous participant describes the experience best…..

“Teen weekend was great. It was great being with a bunch of other adopted teens, hanging out in the game room, seeing people’s pictures and learning about their histories. Next year it needs to be longer!”
